# Co-op Handbook

[The Bristol Bike Project](http://www.thebristolbikeproject.org/) started as a tiny back garden operation in 2008. Since then it has grown into one of Bristol’s best known, successful and well supported social enterprises. We are formed as a Community Interest Company with a Co-operative structure, governed by our members (both volunteers and staff).

Our overarching governance is set within [our constitution](https://thebristolbikeproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Articles-of-Association-BBP-CIC-updated-2023-for-website.pdf) (primary rules), also known as our Articles of Association. This is a formal legal document that defines how we operate as a Members Co-op and as a Community Interest Company.

This Co-op handbook (secondary rules) is a guiding document that expands on our constitution and gives more details on how we operate as a co-operative. It covers our purpose and values, the different decision-making bodies, and our decision-making processes and practices.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://bbp-1.gitbook.io/the-bristol-bike-project-co-op-handbook/master.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
